At St. Louis Automatic Sprinkler Company, we use AutoCAD to design our blueprints. AutoCAD isn't the most accessible software to use. To start when designing in AutoCAD, you look at the top toolbar. The top toolbar is broken down into different categories. The first category is Draw. In the drawing category, you are given the option to draw a line, polyline, different shapes, and a three-point ark. This is where more than likely, you are going to start your drawing. Next is the modify section. In this section, you can change your drawing in different ways.
An example is rotating your drawing. Annotation is the next section of the toolbar. This section gives you the option to get the dimensions of your drawing. The layers are in the following area. In this section, you can change the layer you are working on. You can manage the layer properties. This will allow you to change the name of the coating, the line weight, the color, and if you want the line dashed a certain way. Combining Object is the next category. Combining Objects will allow a person to insert different shapes and objects in their drawing. The last category is Properties of Objects. In this section, you can match properties. Matching properties means that you can change the layer that was already drawn instead of redrawing it. Overall if you want to be an expert on using AutoCAD, it is best to talk CAD classes where you can learn everything you need to know.
